Fun-Care Out of School Club

Fun-Care provides quality after school and holiday care for children aged between four and twelve years old. Our scheme was established in 1995 and over the years has grown in both size and expertise.

At Fun-Care, we believe that play is a child's right and is the essence of childhood. Our scheme aims to support children to engage in a wide range of play opportunities, to ensure that children feel challeneged and stimulated.

Our outdoor environment provides opportunity for creativity, as well as supporting the child's natural instinct to take risks and feel challenged.

Fun-Care is open all year round (excluding Christmas) we operate term-time from 2.00pm (catering for children not in main-stream schooling) until 6.00pm.

We offer a school collection service from the following local primary schools;

  •  Appleton Academy
  •  Low Moor C of E
  •  Shirley Manor
  •  Worthinghead

Throughout the school holidays the scheme runs from 7.30am until 6.00pm with a wide variety of activities, day trips and sports sessions.

After school and holiday activities range from arts and crafts, t-shirt printing, fire cooking, den building, trampolining, baking / cooking, sports and lots more.

Throughout the week we have several ventures out to the local woodlands, parks and bike rides as well as organised days out to theme parks, swimming, cinema, and bowling.

We aim to provide an annual weekend residential experience for children attending our scheme and work with the interested group to organise fundraising activities to subsidise the costs.

Fun-Care aims to:

  • Provide a happy, warm and stimulating environment for all children to play and develop freely.
  • Help children to develop responsibility for themselves, their belongings and their actions and to become confident, independent and co-operative individuals.
  • Encourage children to have a positive attitude and respect for both themselves and other people.
  • Promote a positive relationship with parents and carers and work in partnership with them to provide high quality play and care for their children.
  • Offer inclusive services that are accessible to all children.

Fun-Care is committed to providing:

  • Quality care, play provision and activities that put the needs of children first.
  • A programme of activities that is interesting, stimulating and fun.
  • Activities that promote each child’s social, physical, moral and intellectual development.
  • Access to a variety of facilities and equipment.
  • An environment where no child is bullied or suffers discrimination in any form.
  • A staff team that is experienced, well trained and understands the fundamental role of play in a child’s growth and development.
  • Services that meet the conditions of the Children Act 2004, Every Child Matters: Change for Children and all other relevant legislation.
