Family Support Service

Important notice

The children’s centre services delivered at this centre are now being managed by Bradford Council.

The information on this site about those services will be transferring to the Council’s website over the coming weeks.

The information on this site will be kept up-to-date until that happens and details of the new site pages will be published here.

Our Family Support Team have specialist training in understanding the development needs of children aged 0-4 years old.  They are skilled in helping and supporting parents and carers to recognise and respond to their child's needs in positive and constructive ways.  All members of the Family Support Team have many years experience in dealing with issues faced by children, young people and families.

How can we help?

Our Family Support Team are available to work with families on an individual basis in their own homes, in our Centre or through groups - to provide advice, support and guidance on a range of issues connected with being a parent.

We understand that everyone's needs are different and we treat all families as individuals.  We can also put parents in touch with other organisations who provide support on more specific issues.

There are a number of ways in which we can help:

  • Group work - postive parenting, accident prevention, nutrition, coping with tantrums, routine building - to name a few.
  • Short-term task centred sessions - these sessions are when our worker agrees an action plan with the family and works with the family over a planned period of time.
  • Community development - Our workers recognise the need to help develop services for families/carers and young children where gaps have been identified.  We will work actively with individuals, groups and communities to develop drop-in facilities and offer services at alternate venues where there is an un-met need.
